The Goonies…..because it’s filled with wacky adventures! Watched it as a kid and still love it as an adult :)

  • belubs says:

    THE GOONIES with no doubt.
What not to love about those nicknames given to the characters. And mama Fratelli?
And BEST confession of all times

Deliverance. It’s never truly an adventure unless someone gets porked in the rear.

    Jurassic Park.

Neverending Story. I’m still in <3 with Atreyu.

Damnit I was going to say THE GOONIES but someone else already did… So I’m gonna go with The Great Escape.

JURASSIC PARK! the theme music is dope, and there are raptors!

  • gappy shanks says:

I think “Stand by Me” is probably the best adventure movie of all time. The adventure does not require a far-off land or much more than the promise of finding something fascinatingly sinister at the end. Something about that movie seems almost cursed, like a the loss of innocence and childhood. River Phoenix. That should be enough.

  • otis says:

The Adventures of Milo and Otis had an adorable pug puppy/ginger kitten combo like no other.

  • Pebbles says:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990): Because, back then, they looked real and seemed legit with science behind how they become humongous. Also, they ate pizza, and Splinter was a great role model.

  • blueyedboy says:

Raiders of the Lost Ark – Because of Indiana Jones’s ability to think his way out of trouble, while taking on Nazis, booby traps, and the hand of God with a cocky smile. Even if snakes managed to wipe the grin off his face… Afterward, you don’t just feel like you watched an adventure, you want to head out and have an adventure of your own.

  • Christopherson says:

I mean, probably not my favorite of all time, but, this event makes me think of the movie Jumanji. I’m inspired.

  • Fire EYED Girl says:

ALIENS. Because Ripley is a badass.

  • Mike says:

not sure if this qualifies as an adventure movie but it’s still great :)

    Tropic Thunder

  • tjabs says:

The Land Before Time; because adventure is a journey called life. And it can still make me weep at age 25.

  • Tony says:

I’d like to dedicate this comment to a young man who doesn’t think he’s seen anything good today – Cameron Frye, this one’s for you.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, without question my fav “adventure” movie. He didn’t need pirate treasure, mythical lands w/flying cocker spaniels, or treasure-looting Nazis… Ferris just needed a partner in crime for his truant misadventures, albeit one with access to a 1961 Ferrari 250GT California in an unlocked garage (if you have the means, I highly suggest you pick one up… it is so choice).

Life moves pretty fast, BYT, hook me up with tickets to look around so I don’t miss it!

In the theme of Nat’l Geographic, definitely Disney’s 1994 live-action adaptation of ‘The Jungle Book’ (though the ’67 cartoon version was pretty awesome as well — i.e. old-school Disney). It’s pretty rare that a Disney movie can appeal to such a wide demographic, but I still enjoy it as much today as I did when it came out nearly 20 years ago. Dope action scenes as well!

I might add that I’ve never attended a BYT party, so I’m hoping this is my lucky opportunity!

  • lily says:

Sword in the Stone. Arthur learns to grow up from a boy to a man inheriting the throne of England learning life lessons interacting with animals in different natural settings, and has a blast with Merlin and Archimedes along the way shape-shifting and singing all the while. One of Disney’s best, hands down.

  • Billybass23 says:

Just watched it last night.. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade! I want to be Indiana Jones SOO Bad!

the neverending story – made me want to read books!

borat –navigating through the US can be rough

  • Brenna says:

The Goonies. Other than the fact that I could steal a sweet life mantra (“Goonies never say die.”), it basically transcends generations. My parents showed it to me as a kid and I just introduced my youngest siblings to it. It’s endlessly rewatchable, and unlike a lot of adventure movies, it does so without blowing everything up. And I’m sorry but can we talk about how Josh Brolin and Sean Astin are the most adorable things? The Goonies made Oregon cool before Oregon was cool.

  • Pashadagable says:

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension!

  • precious says:

When it comes to adventure and survival in the city, its The Warriors, no doubt.

  • frodo_for_friday says:

Gotta be Lord of the Rings [and if I absolutely have to pick one, The Two Towers by a hair]… This trilogy redefined the adventure genre. Yes, it had the benefit of better technology, but don’t hate on progress! Send Frodo & Friend on Friday!

  • Yeah yeah says:

The Sandlot-l was still shown this movie in high school, and not even by a substitute. It’s just so awesome it gets worked into lesson plans for Chemistry

  • Jeremy says:

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. Because, Perfect Tommy.

  • Sarah says:

Back to the Future Part III. Time traveling cars and trains, floating skateboards, the old west, crash scenes, duels… what more could a girl ask for?

  • The Perry says:

My FAVORITE ADVENTURE MOVIE OF ALL TIME is ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’. I mean, the title says it all.

  • Kat says:

National Treasure! History, set in DC, hot nerds and adventure? YES PLEASE!!!!

  • Citrus says:

Hands down, it has to be Homeward Bound. Sally Field & Michael J Fox as talking live-action pets: sold! But once you add in the character development, one natural obstacle after another, the porcupine and the incredible score, I’m in tears by the end.

  • Moonshine says:

My favorite adventure movie of all time is “Wall-E” because this movie was a feast for my eyes, but the story and characters were engaging as well. I will always imagine what it is like to fly through star dust as a robot in space.

  • Jess says:

    The Goonies. No explanation needed.

  • kensingtonite says:

I’ve got to go with Raiders of the Lost Ark. It’s a classic that I can watch over and over and over again!

  • Laura Palmer says:

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Sean Connery and Harrison Ford together? Nazis and Jesus and ancient artifacts? BOOM.

  • sonora says:

My favorite adventure movie of all-time has to be The Goonies. I’ve been watching it since I was three and repeating the curse words I learned from it since I was four. It introduced me at an early age to Joe Pantoliano. Plus, Josh Brolin steals a bike from a little girl and rides it like a boss. What’s not to love?

  • negativesnail says:

Willow, Warwick Davis is a genius and there were such great quotes, “turn me back”, “Don’t I know you? I stole the baby from you, Daikini – while you were taking a peepee! ” a far flung adventure for the whole family, good music too.
