Ticket Giveaway: American Craft Beer Week @ Smith Commons

So you already know that Smith Commons is celebrating American Craft Beer Week in style this year this year with a host of events for you to join in on.

Well those super nice Smith Commons folks have givens us TWO $25 giftcards, which can be used anytime but starting at their Homebrewer’s Party on Saturday.  Here are the details for that:If you brew at home, we raise a pint to you! Join us to meet other DIYers and homebrew fans, swap recipes, get tips on better brewing, and more. JP (@justjptweet) from the D.C. Homebrewers Club will be brewing an all-grain Belgian Farmhouse Saison on the porch as a part of the educational series on craft beer and a capstone to American Craft Beer Week. JP will be walking through the ingredients and brew process step by step, highlighting the chemistry and art of creating great beer.

    A friend of mine inadvertently picked up a growler filled with DC Brau’s Pumpkin Penn Quarter Porter, and that stuff was delicious. Why pumpkin beers can’t be purchased year round, I’ll always lament.

    Mad Fox’s Orange Whip IPA. One of the best IPA’s I’ve ever had. Big citrus, some pine and touch of caramel malt to balance. Yum!
