It’s no surprise that BYT loves Brunch and it’s even less of surprise that D.C. is a mecca for the meal suited most perfectly for the morning after. We’re expecting your New Year’s Eve will be full of mischief, endless champagne, dancing, a midnight kiss (or two or three)–all perfect fodder for the New Year’s Day brunch table. It’s your first meal of the new year (no, we’re not counting that post-party 3:00am jumbo slice) so make it count with some of our favorite places to brunch on New Year’s Day….
- Busboys & Poets
Bring them your tired, your weary, your hungover; every Busboys location is offering a pajama brunch from 9:00am to 3:00pm, encouraging some major lazy-day behavior like, you know, wearing your pajamas in public.
- Jackson 20
Alexandria’s Jackson 20 is offering a “Walk of Shame” brunch between 9:00am and 3:00pm, where you’ll get 13 percent off your bill if you show up in New Year’s Eve/night-before clothing. (A fantastic idea if we ever heard one.)
- Trademark Also over in Alexandria, Trademark will help cure late-night ails with its first-ever New Year’s Day brunch. Check out their hearty menu with pork-heavy dishes like the BACON CANDY QUICHE made with chef’s signature bacon candy and caramelized onion, and pork belly pancakes. They’ll also offer two specialty New Year’s cocktails: the “Walk of Shame Bloody Mary” and the sparkling “Grand Mimosa,” both $8.
- Masa 14
If you’re looking to go bottomless (cocktails AND food), we suggest Masa 14’s endless brunch of Latin-Asian fusion small plates and hand-crafted cocktails from 10:00am to 3:00pm. (And at $35 it’s a STEAL.)
- Farmers Fishers Bakers
Also bottomless is the full brunch spread at Farmers Fishers Bakers from 10:00am to 2:30pm. Enjoy farm-fresh egg dishes, breakfast tacos, cinnamon rolls, sushi bites, pizza–basically everything. Top it all off with a few drinks from the Bottomless Bloody Mary Bar or a brunch cocktail bowl for the table.
- Nage Bistro
Enjoy a special New Year’s Day Hangover Brunch complete with Gatorade cocktails and hearty brunch fare from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Try the Kill It Skillet (mac n’ cheese, chorizo, bacon, truffled frites and a fried egg) and replenish lost nutrients with Nage’s Electrolyte Lemonade made with Lemonade Gatorade, Lemongrass and Citrus Vodka, while the Bloody Swine (bloody mary with Bacon and Old Bay rim) provides a little hair of the dog. Need more than just a hair? Bottomless Bloody Mary’s + Mimosas are $14 per person.
- Ted’s Bulletin
There’s always the old Ted’s Bulletin standby, which serves breakfast all day (always a plus) AND they’ve got a special New Year’s salted caramel pop-tart (nothing not to love).
- Founding Farmers
Whether you’re toasting or recovering, we always recommend Founding Farmers for brunch. What better way to say hello to 2013 than with Red Velvet Pancakes and a Bloody Mary? We thought so.
Cure that hangover with Drag Brunch at Perry’s, complete with buffet-style brunch, complimentary cocktail, glitter and fabulous bitches. Brunch is served from 10:00am to 3:00pm and they don’t take reservations so get there early, mmk?
