This week we celebrate overdosing on rock-stardom. One song at a time. Because, why not?
All-female, indie-rock band Wild Flag (who tore it up @ Black Cat this Spring and will be returning on October 20th, with Eleanor Friedberger opening to boot)— which consists of former Sleater-Kinney bandmates Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss, Helium’s Mary Timony, and former Minders member Rebecca Cole — just dropped their first album on MERGE (YESTERDAY!) , so today seems like a perfect time to play the video for their first single, “Romance,” in which they all play bored silly office drones who all say “fuck it” and go on a pink volvo, costumed and ready to rumble.
Think of it as an indie-rock “9-5″, which, when you think of it-is as close to perfection as it’s gonna get this fall.
Haven’t gotten close to tired of this song yet.
probably never will
best band and album for 2011. too bad they did not make a video for black tiles/arabesqe. too bad they did not play fort reno.
