A strong shift from the soft-hued “Rococo” of Spring’s 2012 collections, black, black, black, ruled the runway.  Italian super brands Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci pay tribute to the “art of darkness,” highlighting various periods of artistic movement and STYLE to include the Baroque and the Pre-Raphaelite.  Donatella Versace moves into the 21st Century with Gothic iconography from silk-embroidered crosses, bejeweled black velvet and leather thigh-highs, to a multitude of models sporting Rooney Mara’s bold/blunt bang. ALSO, Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons debuts his farewell collection for Jil Sander F/W 2012.
