ShopGirls on Film: Ginger Root Design (A Visual Essay by The Present Company Project)

BYT has joined forces with Amber Mahoney of The Present Company Project to create ShopGirls on Film — a column featuring DC’s creative minds. In preparation for Fashion’s Night Out (and because we’ve already spouted our love with inspirational playlists and videos), this month’s theme is FASHION.

Ginger Root Design, self described as two redheads getting back to the roots of handmade, is one of DC’s most darling fashion staples. Specializing in intricate, often hand-sewn accessories, clothing and tailoring, Ginger Root brings color and pattern to the District in a way no one else does. (Have you seen their ascots??)

Meet Kristen McCoy and Erin Derge, Ginger Root’s founders and owners, who love to prove that style can be sustainable.
