Whattup, Francophiles? ‘Merica may have just celebrated their independence day, but we’ve already got one. Bastille Day, oh yes, it’s very nice sir.
To help you party like it’s 1789, we’ve gone ahead and collected a handful of events you won’t want to miss, some on Bastille Day proper, others to help you keep the celebration going all week. Don’t forget to kick it all off with our own celebration with The Phillips Collection. D’accord?

Comité Tricolore’s annual Bastille Day celebration brings back the renowned chef, music, and liquor scene the District has come to love. 2941 Restaurant, PAUL USA, Bistro La Bonne and other French favorites will serve up the three course menu, with live jazz accompanying the open (!) bars.
When: Saturday, July 13 (3 – 11 p.m.)
Where: L’Enfant Café Bar, 2200 18th Street NW
Hosted by King Louis XVI (at a pre-Revolution level of happiness, hopefully), the Bastille Day Block party returns to L’Enfant Café. Also returning: Can Can dancers, burlesque, beer garden, food trucks, and everyone’s favorite French Maid Race at 6 in the afternoon. Be sure to hang around all night to for the outdoor masquerade ball.

Where: Hillwood Museum and Gardens, 4155 Linnean Avenue NW
Celebrate Bastille Day in this historically accurate, gorgeous estate and garden, and you may feel a bit like Marie Antoinette. Alliance Française and the Hillwood Museum open up the grounds to commoners, too, with live performances from The New York Baroque Dance Company, along with hands-on art activities.

Where: Napoleon Bistro and Lounge, 1847 Columbia Road
A French themed costume contest will be held and berets, black and white stripes and your best french mustache are expected!
A complimentary bottle of champagne will be awarded at 11:00 PM for the guest who most exemplifies all that makes the French say “ooh lala”!
Followed by a French Fry Toast at midnight!
Central’s 6th Annual Bastille Day Celebration
When: Saturday, July 13 (5 p.m. – 11 p.m.)
Where: Central, 1001 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Dine finely at Michel Richard’s Central, with DC Jazz extraordinaires Laissez-Foure perfroming from 6 – 11 p.m. Bonus: All diners receive complimentary gougeres.
When: Saturday, July 13 (5 p.m. – Midnight)
Where: Beacon Hotel SkyBar, 1615 Rhode Island Ave, NW
Yeah, Paris may be the City of Lights, but DC has it going on with the new Washington Monument scaffolding and all. So celebrate Bastille Day from the top of the Beacon Hotel’s roof with Hot Club of DC playing the best of French Music.
When: Sunday, July 14 (Adult race at 2:30 p.m., Kids race at 2 p.m.)
Where: PAUL Penn Quarter, 801 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
Get your fast-walking shoes on. Teams of six get to speed around the Navy Memorial with a baguette in lieu of a Baton in hopes of being crowned le roi. Each winning team member wins a $25 gift card to PAUL and a tote bag from Alliance Française.

Celebrate (the actual) Bastille Day in style with Bastille’s prix fixe menu. Featuring three courses with an additional fromage course, fill up with everything from Hudson Valley Moullard duck to hibiscus crème brûlée.

Where: 2941 Restaurant, 2941 Fairview Park Dr Falls Church, VA
Bastille Day is not an event to mettre de l’eau dans son vin. But seriously, who would put water in wine? Not 2941, with Rosé, White, Red, and Sparkling offerings, with plenty of food to go around.

Price: $65/person, $35 wine pairing
Drawing inspiration from French provençal cuisine, Chef Cedric Maupilier created a unique tasting menu to celebrate the week before Bastille Day. Minimal-ingredient, high-flavor dishes include summer provençal chowder, lamb saddle, and a “Salad Niçoise meets Panzanella.”
