Every year, the Zinefest community gathers for an incredible expo, workshop, and hang-out with fellow zinesis, promoting and encouraging local artists and creative endeavors in the District and beyond.

At its core, DC Zinefest is an independent event organized to provide a space for zine makers, self-published artists and writers to share their work with each other–it’s a fantastic place to check out the art (be it humorous, serious, food-related, monster-related, LGBTQ-related or otherwise, it’s always enlightening).

It’s also a great spot for checking out some art of a different kind; some of the most inspiring, nerdy, fun and thoughtful tattoos I’ve seen in D.C. cropped up at Zinefest last Saturday, so it’s with great excitement that we present these photos of some of the best taste in tattoos we’ve seen in this city yet:
