Today at 12:30 pm the Snow Patrick’s Day Snowball Fight kicked off at Meridian Hill Park. Two lines of armed people faced each other in the middle of the park waiting for the countdown. On cue, snow burst and large men took their backwards tumbles, as children ran from the anarchy. The fight climaxed with one man as hero: he stood in front of his line, arms out and prepared to take the hit for his team. And for his bravery, he will be remembered. After continual restarts ensued, the teams finished off the afternoon enjoying pints in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.
The Washington DC Snowball Fight Association has had an incredible year of snowfall and snowball fights after a three year dry spell. The first took place in Dupont with hundreds of people in attendance. Each battle has a Facebook event page so you can follow the fights around the city. Look out for #DCSFA and #dcsnowballfight.
