Not even grey skies could keep loyal crowds away from Artscape this year. Okay, so the torrential downpour sent some home for a couple of hours, but most everyone came back. Brian McKnight and Clutch headlined Friday and Saturday (respectively, of course), but there was so much more to Artscape than that. And as the largest free arts festival in the country, that’s something you can count on. I spent most of Saturday at the festival, and despite the constant drizzle/fog/potential for a Stephen King-based movie, both Charles Street and Mount Royal Avenue were packed. If you couldn’t make it out, here are a few things you missed definitely worth checking out.

• Red Emma’s Baltimore Free School did their thing in the most interactive and pleasantly strange way possible.
• The Baltimore Love Project, a great endeavor that aims to unite Baltimore with one image. They have a benefit coming up next month.
• The Moving House Collective propped up a house boat in the middle of Charles Street. It was open to the public and a few bands played on it, and just keep scrolling for the photos.
• The Baltimore Rock Opera Society, who come back every year with rad performances. Extra points for crowd participation.
• jellykoe, Sharp Shirter, and Duke & Winston were favorites among the hundreds of vendors, and you can shop online if you missed them this weekend.
• Food highlights include the Gypsy Queen Cafe, and Hula Honeys.
• Squonk Opera put on one hell of a roadshow.
• And the Koresh Dance Company knocked everyone’s socks off.
• Celebration closed out Saturday night and they were fantastic. For the love of all things funky, check them out.
