Nessie Video of the Day
May 2, 2012 | 5:00PM

On this mellifluous day in 1933, Scotland paper Inverness Courier reported the first modern sighting of “an enormous animal rolling and plunging on the surface,” more popularly known as The Loch Ness Monster. A local couple spotted Nessie the month before while driving along a new roadway beside the famed loch, but the piece wasn’t published until this day, 79 years ago. Though not the first ever sighting (reports of the monster epic fucking beast date back roughly 1,500 years), this article launched Nessie mania, mass pilgrimages to Scotland, etc.

But we here at BYT prefer a sea beast of a different color–one found disco dancing at the bottom of lakes, drinking Bailey’s and loving the absolute shit out of some manly fisherman. In honor of Nessie, Old Gregg and any other sea-dwelling creatures, we proudly present The Mighty Boosh‘s most beloved sketch. If you’ve never seen it, watch this clip right now. (If you have, stop being a naysayer and revisit the damn video.)

Happy Modern Hysteria Birthday, Nessie.
