Shen Wei Dance Arts is internationally recognized for its interdisciplinary cross-cultural performances, which have been described as "breathtaking, powerful, and riveting" (The Boston Globe) and celebrated for their "gorgeous visual imagery" (The London Times). Each work unveils an original movement vocabulary combined with elements of film, theater, new media, and visual art. Undivided Divided is a large-scale, site-specific work that utilizes an array of disparate media elements to create an unconventional, immersive, 45-minute performance piece. Audience members move within and amongst the dancers as video projection, multi-track sound, paint, and sculptural installation combine to create an individual experience for the viewer. Inspired by conscious and unconscious human impulses and interactions with the environment, Shen Wei finds himself "forever fascinated by what the brain knows and what it may not be aware of. Because of this fascination, I have found endless parallels between the tangible world and our impalpable surroundings." Note: This performance contains nudity. Patrons will be asked to remove their shoes prior to entering and standing throughout the 45-minute performance.
