Last Tuesday at Rams Head Live The Go-Go’s all looked and sounded great: Belinda still played up her sexpot role, though she only wore her stilettos for the first song and spent the rest of the set barefoot, Jane Wiedlin was a comedian, and there was lots of love from the crowd for hometown girl Gina Schock
The Go-Go’s have been doing this for so long its moved past nostalgia and doesn’t feel like cashing in on hits, it’s just a bunch of women doing what they love. They had so much fun playing on stage it was contagious. They have aged better than their audience, but the crowd acted young and brought along their children, who were having just as much fun as their parents dancing and singing along. They played all the hits and even went back to their punk roots and played songs from ’78 and a Shangri-Las cover.
