Five Brunches to Try This Weekend

If you’re anything like us you love two things in this world; one is brunch. The other is planning your brunch and looking forward to every last well-earned morsel you’ll be putting in your mouth this weekend, come Hell or high water. While D.C. is chock-full of incredible brunches–you can find them in our extensive D.C. Brunch Guide here–the seasonal menus and specials rotate faster than you can scarf down that cinnamon roll. Fear not. We’re here to help with five new brunch specials to try this weekend for maximum foodie nirvana. Dig in, D.C.   • Beuchrt’s Saloon
    With all this gorgeous spring weather we can’t help but turn our taste buds toward the freshest ingredients possible. Fortunately for us, Beuchert’s sources nearly all produce (as well as meat and some dairy) from their own family farm in Maryland; trust us, we’ve been there ourselves. Stop by for bottomless mimosas with fresh-squeezed orange or grapefruit juice, then order some delectable dishes like Chicken Confit Gravy & Biscuits (with black pepper biscuits, lemon confit and poached eggs), the Beuchert’s Monte Cristo (with corned beef, tomato jam, fonduta, fried egg and sourdough toast), or the Breakfast Sammie (with roasted pork, cheddar, fried egg and latkes). We might just see you there.
  • Table
    If you’re still in the mood for fresh but want ALL THE FOOD, might we suggest Frederik De Pue’s Table? He’s updated the brunch format since last year’s definitive brunch guide, so it’s only fair we update you on one of our favorites. Choose five options from De Pue’s list–it’s a harder task than it sounds, considering the fare. The menu brunch menu changes every weekend but you can pick between dishes like Crepes & Lox (with house smoked salmon and maple cream cheese), Eggs Benedict (with potato hash, poached egg and bacon hollandaise), as well as Pork Cheek Bolognese (with ricotta, gnudi and spinach). Add bottomless mimosas for $13 more.

  • Ripple
    And if you’re north of The Wall this weekend, stop on by Ripple for a delicate, flavorful and always well-executed brunch that comes in both a la carte and prix fixe. On the more indulgent side you’ll find the Code-Ster (fried pork schnitzel, sausage gravy, fried egg, cheddar and a biscuit), the Lamb Shank Hash (potatoes, onions, harissa, fresnos and sunny eggs) and the Brioche French Toast (made of last summer’s peaches and vanilla bean). On the lighter side you can pick some equally delicious choices like the Egg White Frittatta (with wild mushrooms, leeks and organic greens) or the Oatmeal Brancakes (with maple ricotta and last summer’s peaches). Want more? The prix fixe brunch gets you a housemade breakfast pastry (choose between cinnamon rolls, chocolate scones,  lemon pound cake, a muffin, or a housemade english muffin), one entree, and bottomless breakfast cocktail, all for $28. Dreams do come true.
  • Boundary Road
    And you can always stop on by H Street staple Boundary Road for fresh-baked breakfast pastries to go along with that always-killer playlist and brunch options like The Rueben Eggs Benedict, the Hoppin’ John Hash (with pork confit, black eyed peas, braised collards, and fried egg), or the Peanut Butter & Banana Monte Cristo (go “Elvis-style” and add bacon for the win). There’s no place like Boundary Road to ease your way into your weekend, we promise.
  • Nelly’s Drag Brunch
    And let’s add a little spice (and a whole lot of sass) to your brunching this weekend over at Nellie’s. Join the fabulous Shi-Queeta Lee for champagne chicken with saffron rice, eggs, waffles, sweet plantains, roasted pork loin, gnocchi and more. Sure, there are two seatings, but they fill up fast. Book that sh*t ASAP.
