West End is notoriously that no-man’s land when it comes to drinks: sure there is a plethora of GW friendly bars, and just a hop skip away there is plenty of quality imbibing to be done either in the Georgetown or Dupont areas but that 23rd-25th street on Penn has been long awaiting a gathering spot worthy of it’s “close to everything” location.
Well, Conrad Cafritz to the rescue. His newly opened, all suites hotel (aptly named Avenue suites) also features a great new bar/lounge, A Bar, a great new outdoor patio and a great new cocktail menu (manned by Brennan Adams, whom you may remember as the opening bar manager for Masa 14 and El Centro D.F.) and small plates offerings to go with it.
We stopped by the 2500 Penn Avenue location to check out the new space and we definitely liked what we saw: a fire pit to call your own, a back lit garden hedge protecting the privacy of guests tucked into the outdoor patio and iconic images of DC moments punctuating the space, just so.
Drinks after work in the West End just became a little easier. And a lot more stylish.
