MELANIE FROM LA BELLE MEL

Hello everyone! I’ve had this peplum top since 2007 and love to bring it out every summer. Who knew that peplums are now all the rage this summer. My first inkling was to pair this top with a color bottom but decided to tone down the look by pairing it with white skinny capris. I like that the pop of colors are fairly subtle with the exception of the heels.

Jazz in the Garden

Jazz in the Garden is a long-awaited, widely attended summer-long tradition in DC.  Amidst the flowing pitchers of sweet sangria and the upbeat music from the Great Time Jazz Band, the swarms of people gathered proved ideal for an impromptu streetstyle shoot.  The men ditched their stuffy work attire and opted for casual button downs and cut offs paired with boat shoes or loafers.  Neon, colored denim, flowy tunics and lace were popular amongst the ladies accessorized with messenger bags, vintage jewelry and open-toed sandals.

Attempting to catch the last bit of natural light, we found seven people who caught our eye:

I expected this to be a roundup of looks you found on the street. The Jazz Garden part is that, but every one of your posts starts with the same woman who, instead of being found spontaneously on the street, appears to have picked an outfit specifically for your blog. That’s a lot less interesting than a “street style” column, not to mention inconsistent with the theme. Go forth and find style, don’t just feature the same people every week.
