DC NEWS YOU CAN (MAYBE) USE…
June 27, 2012 | 4:00PM
Where we talk about stuff (happening in and around D.C.) we didn’t write about but is still something you may care to get all riled about and comment on. So, without further ado – today, in other D.C. media sources:
- Smithsonian Folklife Festival kicks off tonight, running through Sunday–here’s a festival breakdown and a preview of what’s to come. (via HuffPost DC)

(Elvert Barnes // Huffington Post) - If you’re a sports fan (the only sport I’m into just so happens to be Air Guitar), here’s a solid roundup of places (with food and drink specials!) just perfect for watching Euro 2012. (via Washingtonian)
- Looking for something to sate that sweet tooth? Refinery 29 has got you covered with this go-to guide of Most Delish Desserts in the city.

(Livin’ the Pie Life) - Speaking of sweets, we know tomorrow is not today but put it on your calendars because nothing beats free ice cream; Suga Mama will be giving away free ice cream sandwiches and samples tomorrow at Seasonal Pantry (1314 9th St. NW) from 5-8pm. Obviously, we’re all about it. (via Prince of Petworth)

(Suga Mama)
- And because D.C. is apparently up to its neck in food news today, there’s a cookie recipe throwdown happening between Michelle Obama and Ann Romney. (via The Hill, via Refinery 29)
- And to keep the fatkid news going–as strange as this sounds–there are grease thiefs on the loose, stealing gallons of used cooking oil to sell for profit. (via Washington Post)
- And finally after all that foodie news, some exercise: a barefoot 5k just happened in Maryland, done in partnership with charity Soles4Souls. Here’s a photos of a girl running barefoot while hula hooping, just in case you didn’t feel lazy or unproductive enough today. (via TBD)
