DC NEWS YOU CAN (MAYBE) USE…
June 20, 2012 | 4:00PM
Where we talk about stuff (happening in and around D.C.) we didn’t write about but is still something you may care to get all riled about and comment on. So, without further ado – today, in other D.C. media sources:
- A feature we are ALL ABOUT: The 100 best cheap eats in the District. (via Washingtonian)
- Relatedly in the facestuffing arena, Z-Burger is looking to host a burger-eating competition and needs contestants to participate and win cash prizes totaling $2,250. Get on it. (via HuffPost DC)
- How TV and movies shoot in D.C. and, conversely, how they fake it. (via Washington City Paper)
- Put on your thinking caps and help name this adorable baby Howler Monkey at the National Zoo. (via NBC Washington)
- Council member Marion Barry is trying a last-ditch effort to slow or halt streetcar work on H Street, citing too high a price tag for a turnout of only 2,000 daily commuters. (via Washington Post)
- It’s hot. So very excruciatingly hot. If you’re thinking about escaping the city, here are a few spots to travel where it’s cooler than Washington. (via TBD)
- There is, somehow, an upshot to all this heat–D.C.’s Deptartment of Parks and Recreation is keeping select public pools open until 8:30 pm. Additionally, you can drink water on WMATA trains and buses, as well as at stations today and tomorrow. (via Prince of Petworth)
