Hey everyone! This week’s BEST WEEKEND BETS are, as always, hand selected from BYT ALL CITY and carefully calibrated for maximum fun and minimum stress, and will be punctuated with inspirational images of Siegfreid and Roy (and friends) who lived the WILD (WILD) LIFE like no men before or after them (which is perfect since the BYT/Cap Pride Wildlife party IS this Friday). HAPPY PRIDE WEEKEND Y’ALL. (keep an eye out for the official BYGAYS Pride Survival Guide coming your way shortly)

THURSDAY
- before you go into the weekend and all the drinks that are in your future line your belly with a gourmet grilled cheese from RIPPLE’s newly opened (and awesome) GRILLED CHEESE BAR. And they say dreams don’t come true.
- OK-so, as you may know-SAVOR week is in FULL SWING. While the main event @ National Building Museum has been sold out for what seems like forever, there are so many other craft beer events to indulge in. We recommend:
- The Heavy Seas SAVOR kick off party @ JACK ROSE. Beers aged in whiskey barrels, pirates and more (Click here for a chance to win a pyrate bootie bag)
- or the Abita tap take-over @ Acre 121
- After your belly has been nicely lined with hops and barley, take yourself to a show:
- The Clean + Times New Viking are playing RNR Hotel
- and The Cribs are rock’n'rolling it up @ Black Cat
- for dance purposes: check out BEATS ON REPEAT @ Velvet Lounge
- + ALL SORTS OF other stuff
FRIDAY
- awaken your inner animal, throw on a tastefully trashy leopard print leotard (or a zebra print or a fake lion’s mane or….) and swing by HOWARD theatre for our big, fat-free WILDLIFE Cap Pride Party. This is a historic event, trust us. Good times (and fair warning-tickets are almost sold out)
- but also:
- make sure to check out our weekly “UPCOMING SHOWS WORTH SPENDING $$$ ON” listicle/playlist which allows you to plan your ticket purchasing in a timely fashion
- Source Festival kicks off tonight (click here for a chance to win tickets)
- and on the campy side of things, it seems to be a great night (naturally):
- Yanni is @ Wolf Trap (official name of the it all: “AN EVENING WITH YANNI UNDER THE STARS”)
- TOWN has Sharon Needles
- 930 Club is hosting a massive QUEEN Tribute extravaganza
- for the funnies: Daily Show Exec Producer Rory Albanese is @ Riot Act
- + ALL SORTS OF other stuff
SATURDAY
- GET OUT OF THE HOUSE:
- the annual Capital Pride Parade takes to the DC streets
- and SEERSUCKER SOCIAL RETURNS! – both should make for some truly amazing people watching
- + MOTHER TRUCKER, the dance+pool+food truck extravaganza returns to Capitol Skyline
- afterwards-there’s 2 ways you’re going to feel:
- a. ready to dance (in which case we highly recommend going to MIXTAPE or GAY/BASH at Black Cat)
- or
- b. chilling out in which case theatre is definitely the way to go: Whether watching the dark comedy of “BACHELORETTE” @ Studio theatre or exploring the “HISTORY OF VULNERABILITY” at Theatre J or The Post-Apocalyptic world OF “MR.BURNS” @ Woolly-there is a little something for everyone
- or watch repressed homosexuality during a weekend of celebrating non-repressed homosexuality with a midnight screening of “CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF” @ E street
- on the show side of things- we recommend stopping by St. Stephens church and checking out two of BYT’s favorite female fronted bands CEREMONY or checking out the JAZZ LOFT MEGAFEST
- + ALL SORTS OF other stuff
SUNDAY
- Chances are, it may not be a bad time to whip out our HANGOVER GUIDE-PRO TIPS article again
- afterwards-grab a brunch at one of DC’s many patios or one of the gospel brunches, and plot the rest of the day out:
- Luce Unplugged, American Art Museum’s free, daytime music series features Deleted Scenes this week-recommended.
- and the MAKE IT MOUNT PLEASANT handmade and artisan fair is today.
- movies wise-PROMETHEUS opened this weekend, so that is ALWAYS an option (check back to our FILM section on Friday for our full review) but then so is staying at home and watching instant netflix (peruse our “HOME ENTERTAINMENT” weekly guide here)
- OR-a LITTLE MERMAID sing-along party, anyone? (I mean, everyone, right?)
- should you decide to see a show on a grassy knoll 2 solid options:
- Foster the People (but almost more importantly The Kooks and Kimbra) are @ Merriweather
- and Wolf Trap hosts their annual Louisiana SWAMP ROMP
- + Matt Skiba is @ Black Cat
- and COBALT closes PRIDE out with a Sunday afterparty
- + ALL SORTS OF other stuff
REMEMBER: THERE ARE A BAJILLION OTHER THINGS TO DO LISTED IN BYT ALL CITY, so use it (to both post your events and search for them) and if you think we may have missed something, comment away–you know you want to.
