SATURDAY:
- first things first: at 10am, there is a pretty awesome sounding MILLION PUPPET MARCH happening @ Lincoln park to support public PBS funding. Do it. Here is their official facebook page with all the info.
- more into running than marching? Well, there is a half marathon happening that also somehow involves eating a Ben’s half smoke at the half-way point. I am not sure if this is a good idea, but it is a good enough PR gimmick that I felt compelled to write about it so…mission at least (half?) accomplished
- then… A THEATRE DEAL PSA: ARENA STAGE just launched this super sweet program for people under 30 to get ticket subscriptions for only $15 a pop per show. If this doesn’t make a theater goer our of you-I don’t know what will.
- solid independent gallery options: Katherine Mann’s opening @ Project 4 + Project Dispatch’s Majority Rule vote/art party
- + some really fun, smaller shows/parties: CHAPPO + NICO’S GUN + BYT’s Shauna as Stella Diver are playing The Pinch. Details+a sassy listening party from CHAPPO right here. And – US Royalty is doing an intimate show with Misun @ The Gibson Guitar showroom.
- Speakeasy DC’s Storytelling showdown continues.

- for those who just cannot stop thinking about elections: AFI is playing the seminal POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT collection today with director Marshall Reese on hand to discuss all that propaganda you just digested
- + ALL SORTS OF other stuff

- as we all know-now is the part where I recommend to catch up on some movies. Our FILM SECTION is chock-a-block full with recommendations, and I can PERSONALLY vouch that ARGO, SEVEN PSYCHOPATHS and THE SESSIONS are all very much worth your $10.
- but also:
- DC TWEED RIDE is today which may be the perfect reason to get out and shake that Hurricane fraught indoor self of yours. Afterparty at the Brixton follows. Check out some photos from past years here for inspiration.

- stop by The Corcoran and check out ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL exhibit to get mentally prepped for Tuesday
