There is no doubt that the District will never be a Paris, Milan, Berlin or NYC. But we have to give credit where credit is due.
The District hails a variety of people from the young to the beautiful, to the intelligent and all that’s in between. These unique people bring a vast variety of style and fashion that ultimately fuel the culture of the District. This column is here to document the unique style of the amazing individuals who walk the city streets. As the great Alexander McQueen said himself, “It’s a new era in fashion – there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels, and up-and-coming designers all together.”

I can’t believe a color so chic was once typically reserved for mourning; time really has transformed the significance of wearing all black. Now a sign of the elite or rebellious, this all-black ensemble really made for a great fashion statement. Made for the boldest of men, his printed shirt gave his outfit a unique artistic touch.

With a pop of color, I loved her perfectly tailored blue colored checkered dress. In my experience bright colors can look less chic than others, however she really turned up the chicness factor of the outfit with a black belt and black leather motorcycle jacket. And are you looking like a staple accessory for the summer? Ankle-strap sandals add the perfect feminine touch to this (and almost any) outfit.

What an eye-catching outfit. So many patterns and so many colors, one could say deciding to mix and match every single piece in his outfit was a style statement within itself. I also noted and loved the very stylish oversized frames.

Loved her flowly bell bottomed pants, Chanel purse and perfectly cropped Hanes top. Her simple accessories, however, really added the perfect touch to her outfit. With a bracelet from Ghana, rings from Syria and chain from Columbia, this world traveler wasn’t playing about having an array of unique accessories. What a great juxtaposition of high fashion and discoveries from world markets.

Simple but stylish, you can transform the most relaxed outfit into a chic ensemble. Despite the fact that his tank and skinnies made for a laid-back summer look, paired with a leather jacket and vintage diesel shoes the outfit turned into a very effortlessly stylish outfit.
