D.C. NEWS YOU CAN (MAYBE) USE…
April 24, 2012 | 4:10PM

Where we talk about stuff (happening in and around D.C.) we didn’t write about but is still something you may care to get all riled about and comment on. So, without further ado – today, in other D.C. media sources:

  • We begin with a sad farewell to SocialStudiesDC, LivingSocial’s D.C. culture blog that became home to some fantastically fun videos, “sketchy facts” and news updates. According to the site, the contributors behind the blog will continue working for LivingSocial, though through other outlets. Thanks for bringing so many smiles to our faces, guys. • But not all farewells are permanent, as evidenced by Capitol City Diner’s newest location–a mere 1.5 miles from its original spot on Bladensburg! We’ve long been fans of Cap City, between previews and even spending an overnight shift documenting it, so we’re thrilled to hear it’s got a lucrative future here in the District. • Be a Planeteer tomorrow morning and donate your old cell phones and electronics at metro stops to benefit maternal and child health projects. (via Prince of Petworth)
  • If the District’s been getting you down, try one of 27 quick ‘n’ easy getaways, from a culinary tour of Philadelphia to a sleepover in Frank Lloyd Wright’s home. (via Washingtonian)
  • If you’ve been bitten by one of those active travel bugs, try biking to Maryland in the safest, most scenic way possible. (via TBD)
  • Prince Harry will be receiving an award early next month for his ongoing humanitarian work to help wounded servicemembers. So keep your eyes peeled if, y’know, gingers and monarchy are your thing, ladies. (via HuffPost DC)
  • Aaaaaaaand just in case subtlety isn’t your thing, there’s always this… (found around Georgia Ave, via Prince of Petworth)
