What’s playing, where it’s playing and what we thought of it
A terrific documentary about a delightful, elderly concert pianist.
If your film’s likely to be remembered as a metaphorical train wreck, it’s probably not the greatest idea to start your film off with a literal train wreck.
The film works hard to avoid glamorizing dropping everything and flying halfway across the world in pursuit of happiness.
The film has few jokes that are not based around race, sexual assault, or homophobia.
It starts on a note of exploitative ugliness, and never recovers.
Where else can you see Jaws, Whiplash, Monty Python AND Grey Gardens all in one weekend?
We’re not fucking around.
Sadly, not an April Fools Prank.
