You know what 1999 dance album holds up shockingly well today? None of em. No wait, one does, the debut Basement Jaxx album Remedy. Ok, there might be another, but I feel like even in 1999 we felt like this album would get old pretty soon. But it never has. Not even for a hot second. I remember at one point years later Pitchfork even humbly retracted their previous disparagement. The one-two punch of Rendez-Vu and Yo-Yo are worth the admission price alone, and when Red Alert hits, it’s like God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost just bukkaked all over your face. Then you’re seriously done. Until Bingo Bango ends up being the most joyous thing you’ve ever heard.
