In 2004 Pitchfork BNM’d Anniemal, the debut album of Norwegian electropop singer Annie, and hipsters decided it was ok to like the bubblegum pop sound un-ironically. Singles like “Heartbeat” and “Chewing Gum” got most of the attention, but the true gem of the album was the prog-pop masterpiece “Come Together”, taking you on an 8 min journey through Norwegian disco bliss.
In 2005 Annie played the Black Cat and BYT got nice and pink for the occasion. Here’s some nostalgia to make fun of:
