Brandon Wetherbee hosts the talk show/podcast You, Me, Them, Everybody at the Wonderland Ballroom and in Baltimore, Brooklyn, Chicago and Philadelphia. Listen to it online at youmethemeverybody.com. He’ll be at the Artisphere in Arlington on July 21 hosting This Is A Game Show with music from Ugly Purple Sweater and panelists development diva Jared Harrison, Libertarian congressional candidate Bruce Majors, author Jennifer Tress, Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner Hugh Youngblood, Brightest Young Thing Andrew Bucket, comedian Adam Friedland, radio personality Senna Minor and stand up Jenn Tisdale.
The second This Is A Game Show will take place tomorrow at the Artisphere. It will be good. It is ill timed. Maybe.
So the whole Batman thing. It’s horrible. It’s tragic. As of now it’s not politicized but that will probably change by Monday. For the next few days things will be sad. Something that was supposed to be fun got ruined. It’ll be weird to see the film. Well, no matter what it was going to be weird to see the film because Joseph Gordon Levitt is in it and he looks permanently 12 years old and doesn’t think most girls are funny. BAM! I got him! Sorry. I figured we could all use some “30 Rock From The Sun” type humor. Did you see how many Emmy nods it garnered? Wow! What a critics darling!
So this is kind of what the show will be like. I’ll avoid things that make us sad, intentionally confuse people with pop culture references and try to make them smile. It’s the reason I do any show. It’s the reason to put on a show. Be irreverent with things that don’t really matter to make things that do matter easier to deal with (Sorry about ending with a preposition, I just like the way this sentence is worded.).
When events that are 100% bad like this one take place, I pretend I have nothing to say out of respect. We all have something to say. One person fucked up a lot of people’s lives. That’s it. It’s kind of the only thing we can ever say. A series of sad and bad decisions by an individual made this happen. There’s no Batman curse, political agenda or conspiracy to poison kids with pop culture. It really is just one person and now things suck.
The show must go on. Sure, the show isn’t on television or on Broadway, but it needs to happen. The reason why we’re having a game show is to have fun. Let people disconnect from whatever and have fun. Jimmy Buffett built an entire parrot fucking (He fucks parrots, right? Or it’s just oral sex. Parrot heads, right? So it’s just oral sex. Jimmy Buffett has oral sex with parrots. Got it.) empire out of having fun. So we’ll have fun. Fun like the “Bat Dance.”
When things get you down, when you just want to see the newest Batman film but something tragic happens, don’t stop living. That’s not what the “Bat Dance” is about.

I guess I don’t know what to say. Tragic and senseless. Sometimes things suck. Sometimes things “Bat Dance.” Whatever. Let’s play a game show.
Thanks for reading and have a wonderful night.
